"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
Methodism was born out of the desire for a more disciplined life of study, prayer and accountability. Just as the early Methodist movement was a source of renewal and awakening, Wesley Groups have been a source of renewal and transformation in the life of First Church. They have proven to be one of the most meaningful additions to the life of First United Methodist Church in recent years.
What? Wesley Groups are more than a program, they are a lifestyle. Wesley Groups are small groups that practice accountable discipleship.
Why? To be intentional about living faithfully as disciples of Jesus Christ through fellowship, prayer, study, group accountability and service.
Format? Wesley Groups gather for a time of fellowship, sharing, and prayer and Bible Study.
When? Each group sets their own meeting times. The meetings last one hour to ninety minutes. They start promptly and end on-time.
Where? In various locations around the city.
