What is Jump Start Sunday on August 9?
Each year during the month of August our church family celebrates Jump Start Sunday, when we encourage everyone to re-focus and re-commit to their faith development through small groups, Sunday School, Bible studies and other classes. We will be offering a variety of classes and groups for all ages.
All of our classes and groups will meet online except for a few youth and adult classes which will meet outdoors in appropriately sized groups.
What will we be learning?
- K-3 Grade –Focus on using Bible stories to teach three things: I can trust God no matter what. I should treat others the way I want to be treated. I need to make the wise choice.
- 4-6th Grade – Focus on how the stories of the Bible connect with our everyday lives.
- 7-12th Grade – Focus on how the Christian faith applies to life and relationships.
- Adults – Focus on learning and understanding the Gospel, Biblical literacy, and Christian faith practices.

New Small Groups- Fall 2020
Author Parker Palmer once wrote that Christian community is the, “context in which abundance can replace scarcity.” Discover more about the abundance of such community in a Small Group at First! All of the groups listed below will begin on August 9 and launch with a study of the Apprentice Series, by James Bryan Smith. The groups will meet weekly online using Zoom.
New Disciple Bible Studies- Fall 2020
The Word of God is Jesus Christ, and the words of the Bible tell us about that Word. Therefore, when we study the words of the Bible we always look behind, in, and through those words for God’s Word – Jesus Christ. All Disciple groups will begin on August 9th and meet online using Zoom.
Fall Study: Seeking Justice
As United Methodists, we are committed to challenging unjust systems of power and access. This social justice oriented group will journey together through material and studies aimed at learning how to act and stand against injustice “in whatever forms it presents itself.”
- Begins August 9th online, using Zoom
- Led by Jennifer Rossnagel
- Sundays at 6:00 PM
Fall Study: Love3
Here at First, our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ able to transform the world through God’s Love. We measure our success in this mission through our growth as a community in love of God, self, and others. This fall, join the Love3 Study and journey with us through a series of books specifically designed to grow a disciple in love.
The first book of this study will be Invitation to the Jesus Life: Experiments in Christlikeness, by Jan Johnson
- Beginning August 13th on Zoom
- Led by Karen Milioto
