Van FAQ

  • Homelessness in Baton Rouge is a pressing issue. Approximately 400 individuals daily were looking for a shelter bed as of September 2024. Many face food insecurity, especially on weekends. A mobile breakfast service on Sunday mornings can fill this gap by delivering meals to various locations, ensuring sustenance when other resources are unavailable.
  • The van serves breakfast burritos and hot coffee on Sunday mornings. We also give away lunch including 2 sandwiches, 2 boiled eggs, chips, cookies, fruit, and a drink. Additionally, we have socks and long-sleeved t-shirts to give away. And we provide some basic health services like band aids and Neosporin. Each van feeds approximately 65 individuals and costs around $710 per daily run.
