  • Advanced New Testament | Wednesdays at 5 PM | Online only: This scholarly study uses books and videos by the late Dr. Lindsey Pherigo, once the Professor of New Testament at St. Paul’s School of Theology. New people are always welcome; however, it is helpful if participants have completed the Disciple courses. Click here to sign up.

 

  • Bad Girls of the Bible | Wednesdays at 6:30 PM | Hybrid: Whether they were “Bad to the Bone,”“Bad for a Season, but Not Forever” or only “Bad for a Moment,” these infamous sisters show women how not to handle the challenges of life. Click here to sign up.

 

  • Christian Life Groups | Various times/locations | Hybrid: Enrich your life and companions on the journey of faith. Groups meet in-person, by Zoom and connect through other means to pray for, encourage, and challenge fellow members who are asking themselves and each other “How is your life with God?” Groups members utilize Sunday sermons as the primary resource to guide their discussion, sharing and prayer. Meets weekly for 1 to 1.5 hours throughout the school year. Days, times, and locations are determined by group members and their leader(s) once persons are assigned to a group.   • Church Council | Meets five times per year | Hybrid: The church council is the governing body of our church. Anyone is welcome to attend church council meetings to observe (only elected council members may vote). Email Virginia Guffey for 2024 meeting dates and for more information.

 

  • Financial Peace University | Sundays at 5 PM | Hybrid: Money. Maybe you feel like you didn’t learn enough growing up to manage your finances well now. Maybe money is so tight you worry you won’t have enough from one month to the next. Here’s some good news: Whatever your past, whatever your income, wherever you are with money right now—you don’t have to stay there. You can get the knowledge and motivation to make things different.To fight inflation, get rid of your debt, save more money, invest, and get margin in your monthly budget so you can breathe again.   • Good and Beautiful Community | Wednesdays at noon OR 5:30 PM | Hybrid: “Apprentices of Jesus are not part-time do-gooders,” he writes. “They live in continuous contact with the kingdom of God, and are constantly men and women in whom Christ dwells. They do not sometimes tell the truth, sometimes live sacrificially or sometimes forgive. There are myriad opportunities for us to impact the world in which we live.” Click here to sign up.

 

  • Life Groups for Lent | Wednesdays at noon-1 PM or 5:30-6:30 PM | Hybrid: During the season of Lent, two opportunities to gather will held on Wednesdays: 12:00pm-1:00pm and 5:30pm-6:30pm. These set-apart times will be for reflection, conversation, and prayer around Christ-centered spiritual practices. Each week, the previous Sunday sermon will guide the group’s time together. Meeting dates are: 2/21, 2/28, 3/6, 3/13, 3/20, 3/27. In-person (at FUMC) and online participants (Zoom) are welcome. Childcare is available for those attending in-person in the evening.   • Lunchtime Bible Study | Thursdays at noon | Hybrid: Settle in during the lunch hour each week to look more deeply into the scriptures. Whether you join in-person or on-line from your home or office, you will leave this hour with a greater understanding and appreciation for the many ways the writings of the Bible have spoken and continue to speak into the human life.   • Rings N Ivy Sunday School | Sundays at 9:45 AM | Hybrid:  This class is made up of primarily those in their retirement years who are proud of the classes’ diversity of thought and membership. Both religious and secular content are presented through a Christian lens. The class cares deeply for its members, serves actively in the community and offers an active social calendar. Online Worship

Worship with us online each Sunday at 8:30, 9:45, and 11:00 AM. Online worship is streamed on Facebook, YouTube, and Church Online.

Believe and Belong

If you would like to become a member of First United Methodist Church, we invite you to join us for a gathering we call “Believe and Belong”, where we discuss what it means to believe in Jesus and to belong to FUMC BR; at the end of the event you will have an opportunity to take membership vows.  This class is available online.  Gatherings occur each month – to sign up, click here.
