Ash Wednesday

February 18

Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Lenten season of reflection and repentance. On this day we mark the sign of the cross on ourselves to be grounded in our mortality as we seek a more faithful life. Lent is an opportunity to go deeply into our hearts and the souls of our communities, and to recognize the depth of our estrangement from God.

  • 7:00-8:00 a.m. drive-thru imposition of ashes at America Street.
  • 12:10 and 6:30 p.m. Sanctuary services with imposition of ashes.
  • 6:30 p.m. Mid City Ash service at Counterspace (Government St.)

Men's Walk to Emmaus

February 26 - March 1

Men of FUMC are invited to experience the Men’s Walk to Emmaus, a three-day spiritual retreat hosted at Broadmoor United Methodist Church. The Walk to Emmaus is designed to inspire, challenge, and equip Christian disciples and leaders for faithful living at home, in the church, at work, and in the community. It is a meaningful opportunity for anyone seeking spiritual renewal, deeper connection with God, or a firmer foundation for their faith. Several members of FUMC will serve in leadership roles, including Rev. Brady Whitton as Spiritual Director. Questions? Contact Pattye Hewitt at phewitt@firstmethodist.org
